hedging = when you avoid disagreeing directly i take your point = when you agree, but you not really i understand what you're saying = when you understand what someone has said, but you don't agree with it i see/know what you mean = when you understand what someone says i hear where you're coming from on this = i know what you mean can i come in here? = can i interrupt you politely? if i can just stop you for a moment = can i come in here? sorry to interrupt you = can i interrupt you? as we were saying earlier = to refer back to what was said earlier to go bak to what x was saying earlier = as x was saying earlier to go back to what i was just saying = to go back to what i've said are you saying that ...? = to check that you understand what someone has said are you suggesting that ... ? = to check if you understand are yoy implying that ..? = are you saying that...? if i understand you correctly = if i follow you reach agreement = when people agree to reach an agreement about something = when people agree fully on a subject come to a consensus = something that most people can agree with to compromise, to find a compromise = an agreement where people accept less than they wanted at first a disagreement = something in particular that you disagree with we're running out of time = when you close a meeting we're going to have to stop here = when the meeting is being closed go over what's been said = when you sum up the meeting both sides of the argument = all the opinions about the subject sum it up = when you say everything that has been said in a short way
