'Consolation' from Surrey = He gets rejected, calls his lady cold en cruel for not accepting his love, stays true and loyal in the hope that will change her mind. Uses elements of Greek mythology. Themes consolation and devotion 'Sonnet 18' from Shakespeare = he compares love to a summers day but his love is more lovely. the beauty will not perish because it is preserved in this poem. Themes stability of love and the power to immortalize. 'Sonnet 130' from Shakespeare = he compares to other beauties and never in the lover's favour. He thinks that his love is more rare and valuable. Anti-Petrarchan sonnet. Theme theme is love. 'Sonnet 15' from Spenser = describes the beautiful features of his beloved. She is a treasure. Describes her in a ogling manner. Her mind is most precious (a part that no ever gets to see). Theme comparison and love 'Sonnet 75' from Spenser = speaker and lady are at the beach. He keeps writing her name in the sand. She thinks its weird that he is trying because she is mortal. He says i immortalize you by writing about her in his poems. Theme immortality and love. 'Why so Pale and Wan' from John Suckling = a man is failing to win the heart of a lady. A friend says nothing can change her mind. Theme is unrequited love. 'The sun rising' from John Donne = He's cocky. Feels to good to be bothered by the sun. He's better than the sun he can close his eyes and the sun is gone. He in his lady are all the countries and kinds in the world combined. Because his room is most important the sun can stop traveling because it only needs to shine on this couple. theme love dissatisfaction 'The Good Morrow' from John Donne = Wakes up next to his lover and wonders how they got to that point. They were fooling around and now they are truly in love. Not only the bodys but also the souls. They dont need the rest of the world. Theme; love and sex 'The Collar' from Herbert = begins abruptly with a display of aggresions. sort of midlife crisis. he is a priest. The purpose of his life is doing his job because god want that. theme is the downside of being good. 'To his coy mistress' from Andrew Marvell = she is coy but they don't have time for that. If they had then they could focus on each part of her body even her heart. but they dont so they should have sex otherwise the worms will take her virginity in her grave. And his sexual desire will burn op in ashes. So hey lets have sex..we can't stop time but we can change places with it. 'To the virgins, to make much of time' from Robert Herrick = They sould gather their rosebuds because time is passing. Youth is the best time in life. So make use of your time, get married. Theme time morality and marriage
